Financial Cryptography and Data Security 2020

Twenty-Fourth International Conference
February 10–14, 2020
Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa
Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

Airlines

There are flights to Kota Kinabalu from around Malaysia as well from various cities in China (including Hong Kong and Taipei). Within Asia there are also flights from Singapore, Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, and Brunei. From outside the region, the best connections are perhaps via Kuala Lumpur as there are many daily flights from there, but there are also several daily flights from Singapore and Brunei. Those coming from the UK should consider the direct flight from London to Brunei, and those coming from North America should consider connecting in Seoul. From Australia, there is a direct flight from Perth to Kota Kinabalu, as well as direct flights from Melbourne and Brisbane to Brunei. The low-cost carrier Air Asia offers inexpensive service from around the region, but connecting to it might require a separate ticket.

Flight discounts

We have arranged discounts for FC20 attendees with the oneworld alliance. Malaysia Airlines, which has many flights to Kota Kinabalu, is a member of this alliance. The discounts are valid not only to Kota Kinabalu (BKI) but also to Singapore (SIN), for those who prefer to travel to Singapore with their favorite oneworld carrier and separately from there to Kota Kinabalu (for example with Air Asia). oneworld

oneworld® is pleased to be the official airline alliance of Financial Cryptography and Data Security 2020.

Airport transfers

The conference hotel is near the airport. Although it's possible to arrange a private transfer in advance, at the taxi booking kiosk within the airport building (after exiting the baggage hall) you can purchase a coupon upon arrival and proceed to the head of the taxi rank. Alternatively you can download the app Grab (similar to Uber) and use that.

Feel free to send your flight number and arrival time to the General Chairs. We can try to let you know about others arriving at the same time so that you can arrange to share a taxi.

Visas

Although most FC attendees will likely not need a visa, nationals of some countries do require a visa to travel to Malaysia. Information is available here. All visitors should hold a passport that is valid at least six months from the date of entry. Note that Israeli nationals require special security approval to travel to Malaysia, which must be obtained before applying for a visa. The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau can assist us in obtaining this approval for conference attendees. Israelis with dual nationality will have an easier time if they travel on their other passport. Those for whom this isn't an option should contact the General Chairs as soon as possible to start the approval request process, which could take a few months.
