Financial Cryptography and Data Security 2020

Twenty-Fourth International Conference
February 10–14, 2020
Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa
Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

The conference takes place at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa. We have negotiated a special rate with the conference hotel.

Kinabalu Wing Run of House MYR 600.00 per night
Tanjung Wing Sea View MYR 720.00 per night

Prices are for single or double occupancy and include breakfast (for 1 or 2 persons) but do not include service charge and tax (currently 10% and 6%, respectively). In addition, a tourism tax of MYR 10.00 per room per night is imposed on foreign passport holders (Malaysian Nationals and Permanent Residents exempted). An additional bed will be charged at MYR 190.00 per bed per night, including breakfast. Children under 12 receive a complimentary extra bed when accompanied by a paying parent (maximum 1 per room), and children under 6 enjoy a free buffet when accompanied by paying parents (maximum 2 per room). Children over 4 and under 12 enjoy complimentary entry to the kids club during its hours of operation.

The Kinabalu Wing rate is run-of-house, which means that the room category (Mountain View or Sea View) is determined by availability at the time of check-in. The Tanjung Wing rooms are all Sea View.

We have blocked 60 rooms for conference attendees that will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional rooms are on a space-available basis. You are encouraged to make your reservation as early as possible and no later than December 18, 2019 in order to ensure the rate and availability. After the cutoff date any remaining rooms in the block that have not been reserved will be released by the hotel for sale to other guests. The group rate might not be offered after this date even if there is room availability.

Update: The contracted cutoff date has passed and the group rate is no longer available online. However, you might still be able to get a room (on a space-available basis) if you contact Darlene Chong and Sheila Carreon at the hotel directly.

Update 2: Availability at the conference hotel is now quite limited on some of the nights. If you're unable to get a room at the group rate, you might want to consider staying at another hotel nearby. The nearest is C'haya Hotel, approximately 5 minutes by car. The Pacific Sutera and Magellan Sutera are approximately 10 minutes by car. The Marriott, Le Meridien, Hilton and Hyatt are all located in the city center and are approximately 20–30 minutes by car, depending on traffic.

Update 3: Today (30 January) the hotel informed us that they again have availability for the lower category of room (in the Kinabalu Wing) at the group rate. Those interested should contact Darlene and Sheila via the above link.

Click here to book a room at the group rate. This will prepopulate the check-in and check-out dates, but you can change them. Alternatively, you can book directly on the main Shangri-La website using the Group Code SFCA100220.

Both Kinabalu Wing and Tanjung Wing rooms should be offered if available. The Kinabalu Wing rooms are shown as Mountain View but run-of-house Mountain/Sea View is what is actually contracted. The group rate is also valid from 3 days before until 3 days after the group block, on a space-available basis. If the room type you want is not offered for the dates you want, it could be because more rooms need to be allocated to the group (this is particularly true for pre and post dates), so check with the General Chairs before giving up.

The Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort & Spa has a much larger and nicer beach but it's a bit far out of town (about 45-60 minutes drive) so we decided not to hold the conference there. We will be visiting it for the Tuesday afternoon excursion. They have also offered a discounted rate for FC attendees who wish to extend their stay in Kota Kinabalu before or after the conference. Please contact the General Chairs if interested.
